LBS startup Geovative Solutions recently rolled out GeoTours Premium, an upgrade
to the free version of the GeoTours software and service it offers on its Web
site.
Geovative allows users to create GPS tours through its Geovative.com Web site.
Using the GeoTours platform, users can sign up for a free account and then
create a GPS tour that can be shared with others. Currently tours can be downloaded
to Garmin GPS units using Garmin's TourGuide format, as well as smartphones
and PDAs running Geovative’s GeoTours Mobile product, iPods, and MP3
players.
Geovative's GeoTours Premium was designed specifically for destination marketing
organizations, the company said. "It's basically for any organization
that wants to attract people to their location in a unique fashion," said
Scott Rock, co-founder of Geovative.
Using GeoTours Premium, destination marketing organizations can create a widget
to display a GPS tour directly on their web site and allow users to download
the tour to any one of the supported devices. The tours are fully customizable
and allow an organization to include its own colors and logo, according to
Geovative.
GeoTours Premium offers other additional features as well, such as Mini-Sites
and detailed usage reports, according to Geovative. A Mini-Site is a small,
fully customizable web site that showcases the organization's GPS-based tours.
With the detailed reports, organizations can see statistics and charts detailing
how users are viewing and interacting with their GPS tours, the company says.
“GeoTours Premium has been a hit with destination marketing organizations
looking to embrace technology," Rock said. "We’ve had a number
of forward-thinking convention and visitors bureaus that have expressed interest
in it."
