Integrating a GPS receiver with image processing and geographic information systems (GIS) helps wildlife researchers see "the other side of the mountain."

Rapid developments in mobile technology hardware and infrastructure make possible a range of new services for people on the move, particularly tourists visiting unfamiliar places. These travelers require up-to-date information and may need additional wayfinding support, or rescue in emergency situations.
